Lay judge Mimo Garcia:
On Monday, the Senate Committee on the Judiciary will begin hearing Ketanji Brown Jackson (https://www.judiciary.senate.gov/judge-ketanji-brown-jackson), who President Biden nominated as the next associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States in place of the Stephen Breyer who announced his retirement.
She is a remarkable nominee and will make a very strong Supreme Court justice.
It is important to mention that If confirmed, Jackson would be the first Black woman to sit on the SCOTUS.
Dianne, on the other hand, was also the first woman in many ways. In my book, Dianne Feinstein – The First Woman (https://senatordiannefeinstein.com), I carefully list them. I remind them here:
Feinstein was the first woman president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, the first woman mayor of San Francisco, the first woman elected Senator of California, the first woman member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, the first woman to chair the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, the first woman to chair the Senate Intelligence Committee and the first woman to serve as ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee, the first woman to have presided over a U.S. presidential inauguration.
